10 Video Games Everyone Played (But NO ONE Talks About)

One video game craze that players thought would never die out was the skateboarding game, which kickflipped its way onto the gaming scene with the release of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater in 1999 - a title that has given anyone in their mid-20s major nostalgia.

These early titles allowed players to experience the thrill of pulling-off impressive tricks. But it wasn't until the Skate series arrived on the scene when the genre came into its own, with Skate 3 being the pinnacle of it all.

By flicking and rotating the right analogue stick to execute tricks, the Skate series revolutionised the genre. Moreover, co-op play, hilariously painful bails, and tough challenges helped make skating around the vibrant locations a genuinely fun experience.

Unfortunately, that was all EA were willing to give us at the time, with the publishers saying the series had "run its course" only five month after the game's release.

This was the end of an era, with the final nail in the coffin being the awful and gimmicky Tony Hawk: Ride in 2015.

However, with the remaster of Pro Skater and rumours of Skate 4 gaining traction, we may not have seen the last of this genre after all.
