10 Video Games You Had To Hide From Your Parents
8. Tomb Raider
Lara's evolution from triangle-chested sex-icon to endurance-test survivor is one of gaming's great barometers for portrayals of females over the years, but before she finally got on the right side of her sex appeal Lara's melon-chested figure held a place in both teenage boys' minds and that of overly-sensitive parents - for completely different reasons.
Back in the PSone days there was a huge difference between the Lara rendered on the box, posters and adverts - i.e. someone who didn't look like they were made from lego - and that of in the game, meaning that her suggestive noises, poses and dialogue left you as something of a laughing stock should anybody walk in.
It didn't help that her sound bites and dialogue were overly suggestive either, meaning any younger players trying to justify their cause by lending it from a friend so their parents could see what the big deal was, ended up subjecting them to some very awkward sexual-grunt climbing noises.
Lara's initially rough n' tumble character design was badass to the core though, and despite many pointing the finger and stating nothing good came out of her original portrayal, Ms. Croft is a firm favourite amongst a great many more female gamers than you'd think.
