10 Video Games It's Cool To Hate
5. Pokémon GO
Pokémon GO started rolling out around the world early in July of 2016. It’s fair to say that it had a bit of a bumpy launch. Well, that’s putting it politely, as it wasn’t so much a bump as a steep, disastrous incline the height of the Chrysler Building.
The issue was, the entire population of the planet tried to log in all once (this is Pokémon, after all) and the servers weren’t even remotely prepared for that. The result? A sort of all-you-can-eat restaurant of glitches, crashes and bugs.
Technical snafus aside, the simple fact was that there wasn’t a whole lot to do in this much-anticipated mobile title at first. With a questionable Pokémon tracking system and no basic abilities to trade or battle with other players, GO lost its luster very quickly.
These features have now been added, as have many others, and it’s a much more engaging experience than it used to be. Nevertheless, Niantic’s mismanagement of this huge name has led to it being regarded as a bit of a meme by some.
