10 Video Games People HATED (Until They Didn't)
8. Cyberpunk 2077
How do you ruin your good guy game developer reputation overnight? You release Cyberpunk 2077 into the world, despite the fact that it was full of bugs, clearly not ready for full release and was nigh-on unplayable on last-gen consoles.
The initial furore around the game's release was pretty well-deserved as it was really quite janky, but over the past year, CD Projekt Red has been working on slowly but surely improving the game and making it closer to the vision of what it was meant to be.
It's not quite there yet, but already the tide is shifting in the favour of CD Projekt. Just a couple of weeks ago at time of writing, Steam reviews for Cyberpunk 2077 started tipping towards positive for the first time since release, and several bug fixes are clearly improving the reputation of the game.
Could it have done a lot better if all of this was implemented before release? Hell yes. But it could be the case that next year's next-generation patches for the game reignite interest in it, and if they can iron out the rest of the issues the game has, Cyberpunk 2077 could well be on its road to redemption.
