10 Video Games People HATED (Until They Didn't)

5. Assassin's Creed: Unity

If someone said to you the words 'Assassin's Creed: Unity', what pops into mind? For us, it's the picture just above of a character with their face completely missing, consisting of nothing but hair, terrifying eyeballs and a grinning mouth.

Such was the state of Assassin's Creed: Unity on release that it was a laughing stock from the get-go. Our aforementioned faceless-friend became a meme overnight, and was circulated across the web for weeks afterwards. However, he was just the tip of the iceberg. Unity just wasn't ready for full release, and was packed to the gills with technical issues ranging from pedestrians completely getting in the way during important cutscenes to complete lockups on the game, forcing a restart.

However, despite all these issues, Unity nowadays is surprisingly playable. In fact, a lot of people who hated it originally now consider it to be an older, more authentic traditional Assassin's Creed experience after the series recently diverged off into RPG territory.

The game plays a hell of a lot smoother than it used to and other than a few collision problems, the vast majority of the ridiculous bugs are now fixed. RIP, faceless wonder. You shall be missed.
