10 Video Games Ruined By Absolutely Terrible Controls

9. Super Mario Sunshine

Super Mario Sunshine
Nintendo

Super Mario Sunshine is a bit of a black sheep when it comes to the 3D Mario platformers. It's unique, yes - it would be amazing to see Nintendo take the series in a direction with so much personality and variety again - but it's also deeply flawed and frustrating as hell, due to its completely wonky controls. Yes, that's right - a Mario game with poor controls. Say it ain't so!

From the offset, Mario feels just, well... different to how he felt in Mario 64, gliding across the ground as if every last surface is coated in a thin layer of ice.

But the game's biggest challenge is its camera controls, which are, in a word, non-existent. Seriously, there are so many times throughout Sunshine when the game just won't let you control Mario's camera, meaning you've got to make tight, precision-based jumps on nothing but a F.L.U.D.D. and a prayer.

Sunshine's atrocious camera controls render what might have been a refreshing entry in the 3D Mario series a disappointing experience.
