10 Video Games That Aged Badly For Surprising Reasons

7. The "Hero"'s Actions Have NOT Aged Well - Homefront

Homefront was one of those 'better than it deserved to be' kind of games. A fairly solid shooter, even if it didn't have much in the way of bells or whistles. Mostly just a linear FPS, it was the story of a guy caught behind enemy lines, living in an America half-conquered by North Korea. Aside from the insane story, the game is tough to stomach with modern politics on the mind.

The real hero of Homefront is not the player, but rather Connor: The in-your-face, drill sergeant-esque rebel captain.

The story of the game is basically Connor's character arc from a douchey bag of hatred to a heroic martyr for the cause. Keep in mind that Connor dislikes the main character from the outset - which makes absolutely zero sense - Connor and the main character are both US marines. A group known, for better or worse, for sticking up for each other.

He is racist, bigoted, and a complete jerk who is just upset his societal luxuries have been revoked – and the game does everything it can to point out that he's the good guy and, though he's a little offensive, he's in the right. Actually him being offensive is kind of the point - he's not 'PC', because he's a 'real man'.
