9. Injustice 2
It wasn't a surprise when NetherRealm Studios announced a sequel to the DC Comics fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us back in June of last year. I mean, not only did it score very well among critics, it also did well commercially. What was surprising was just how good Injustice 2 was.
While fighting games are mostly seen as multiplayer competitive affairs, Injustice 2 bucked that trend by featuring a compelling single-player story mode, customization that's normally seen in other genres, and even a loot box system just to keep hooked into playing one more game. Injustice 2 had it all, and proves that Capcom has a serious challenger when it comes to best fighting games based on comics.
