10 Video Games That Blatantly Ripped Off Iconic Franchises

3. Dangerous Driving

The Game: Dangerous Driving is a racing game that involves a lot more crashing than the likes of Forza. This is a game where you're allowed to ram into your opponents. Doing so will make them crash and explode in a fiery burst of satisfaction. Here, being aggressive may get you first place rather than a penalty.

The Game It Ripped Off: Burnout.

Dangerous Driving was developed by Three Fields Entertainment, which is an indie game studio composed of former Criterion Games employees. Criterion were the geniuses behind Burnout, which was the original aggressive-racing game. This makes Dangerous Driving a spiritual sequel rather than a total rip-off.

The only problem is that Dangerous Driving failed to make that sort of impact (pun somewhat intended). Seeing as the game is essentially Burnout without its budget, DD is merely a shadow of its spiritual self.

EA also tried to revive the aggressive-racing genre when they released Burnout Paradise Remastered in 2018. Even though that game soared to the top of the sales charts during its first week, it also failed to make an impact. Burnout is an amazing franchise that deserves to return, but hopefully, its next attempt is better than Dangerous Driving.
