The whole point of the game is to kill Zeus. So, why on earth, would the final fight of the game not result in you butchering Zeus in the most brutal and over the top way possible. It wasn't a nuanced ending. All that the game had to do was allowing you impale Zeus on a mountain or something as ludicrous as that.

It is disappointing because the game goes nowhere. The game starts with you fighting Zeus and being defeated, and the game finishes with you fighting Zeus and being defeated. The basic fundamentals of storytelling dictate that by the end of the story, the main character should have grown in some way. It isn't the most complicated arc, but God of War 2 still falls short.

And then it ends with a cutscene and a cliffhanger, the universal worst way to end a game. Which conveniently brings us onto...
