10 Video Games That Could Be 2019’s Game Of The Year

9. Skull & Bones

Skull & Bones could potentially be on a pile with Crackdown 3 and Anthem, labelled ‘already too many issues to be a GOTY contender’. Of those three though, Skull & Bones seems like it deserves the most benefit of the doubt.

Crackdown’s long time spent in development hell is something of a red flag, while Anthem, on the other hand, still can’t quite shake off the ‘Destiny clone’ tag, marking a move away from the rich RPGs that have brought BioWare success previously.

Skull & Bones itself has drawn some critical comparisons, both to Sea of Thieves and Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag. But the Sea of Thieves comparison feels a little lazy; yes they both have pirates, but Red Dead and Barbie Horse Adventures both have horses. As for Black Flag, no one can blame Ubisoft for taking one of the most popular and exciting parts of a previous game and building a new one around it.

It’s definitely better than churning out sequel after sequel with no thought. And if they get it right, it could be a surprise challenger for GOTY.
