10 Video Games That Didn't End The Way Any Of Us Wanted

9. Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy

Quantic Dream

We’ve said this before on WhatCulture lists when we bring up studio Quantic Dream but it’s fair to say David Cage games are a little hit and miss.

The weirdest part, though, is that they tend to have moments of hit and miss within the same game. Take Fahrenheit for example.

The 2005 action-adventure, also known as Indigo Prophecy, has you play as a possessed murderer called Lucas, and two cops on his tail. While the narrative changes here and there depending on your choices, Lucas’ girlfriend is kidnapped by a Mayan Oracle connected to his murder at the beginning of the game. Things go progressively more sideways as Lucas and his beau both die, he’s brought back to life and sent to seek the all-powerful Indigo Child who can bestow said power, naturally the Oracle is also after her. Bing bang boom, things get wildly sci-fi and fantasy-focussed in the worst of ways and we trade out intrigue for basic wackiness peppered with QTEs.

Again, this one is extra disappointing because it started so well, but as we know David Cage can’t really help himself but take things so far off the rails you can’t even see the rails any more.
