10 Video Games That Don't Let You Save

8. The Dame Was Loaded

As the low-key hilarious name suggests, The Dame Was Loaded is a point and click detective game. It's also timed, just to make things a little more interesting.

And that it does. Because you can only save the game in one specific location; the office of the main character. Since it takes time to travel back to this location and save, you're actually very unlikely to, as doing so will actively leave you at a disadvantage - and potentially a very significant one depending on how long it takes you to get to save.

Times puzzles are an unnerving concept enough, but timed puzzles where you're unable to get some solace in a quick fear-based save is another more terrifying concept entirely.

And in some senses, this isn't necessarily a bad thing. At the end of the day, it does create much, much more tension than most point and click games can claim to have, given you spend every second aware that the clock is ticking down.

However, when you want to play a cool mysterious film noir game, you probably weren't planning that the game would actively dissuade you from trying to save, so any frustration is more than understandable.
