10 Video Games That Got Terrible Reviews But Were Actually Great

After Disney’s acquisition of LucasFilm back in 2012, one of the first moves made was to disregard the expanded universe in an attempt to streamline the continuity. Unfortunately this left several higher profile casualties, one of these being the Force Unleashed saga, leaving it unfinished and on a cliffhanger ending.

Set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, Force Unleashed tells the story of Darth Vader’s secret apprentice, “Starkiller”, exploring the aftermath of the Great Jedi Purge under Order 66. The first game ended with the demise of Starkiller after he sacrifices himself to save the Rebel Alliance leaders but Unleashed II sees you playing as a Starkiller clone. Retaining some memories of the original Starkiller, he then sets out to discover who he is and find his love interest, Juno Eclipse.

It was criticised for repetitive gameplay and its ending but also presents a rare case where the Wii version is considered superior to the Xbox 360/PS3 editions, containing additional levels and a multiplayer mode. For those needing more Star Wars after Rise of Skywalker, it's a sub-series worth revisiting.
