8. Streets Of Rage 3

For a lot of people, Streets of Rage was a great way to get into the side scrolling brawler, as it was often bundled in a compilation cartridge practically everyone had with their Megadrive. You know the one, it had Columns on it too.

As it went from strength to strength with its sequels, it was always fun to clean up the streets with Axel, Blaze and their revolving door of playable companions. The third one gets touted as the weakest, but it's still a banger of a game.

So you'd be right in feeling like a badass when you and a mate reached Mr. X in the five stage, thinking this is it, this is the end game.

And it is, if you're playing on Easy. Yet it's not the story's end, as the game makes a point of telling you in the above screenshot. It doesn't just tell you, it insults you, telling you that you played it on easy, no true ending for you.

It was both insult and life lesson, all in one pithy dig from a robot.
