10 Video Games That Kill You In The First Level

5. Driver

Call of Duty Vanguard
GT Interactive

Driver is a PS1 game where you play as a police detective called Tanner who uses his skills behind the wheel to infiltrate a crime syndicate. To start the main campaign, you need to execute all the basic driving techniques in the tutorial. After you achieve a 360-degree turn, a revere 180, a burnout, etc, you can move on.

Sounds easy, right? So, what's the problem?

Well, you aren't told how to perform any of these techniques, meaning you have to figure out everything by yourself. Okay, that's not too bad. Even if some of the moves are a bit tricky to pull off, at least you have all the time in the world to get the hang of them, right?

Oh, wait. You don't have all the time in the world since you have to perform every technique in sixty seconds. Many owners of Driver remember the frustration of pulling off every move but one as the clock hit zero, causing the tutorial to reset. Although we've all played games with unfairly difficult opening levels, Driver might be the only game that players gave up on before starting the main campaign.
