10 Video Games That Let You Destroy The World

7. Star Wars: Empire At War

Set around the time of Episodes III and IV of the movie series, real-time strategy game Star Wars: Empire At War allows you to play as the Rebel Alliance or the Galactic Empire, with the Rebel campaign ending in exactly the same way as the original 1977 film - the destruction of the Death Star and a celebratory awards ceremony.

But playing as the bad guys... that's a lot more fun, if only for the simple fact that you can actually use the Death Star to blow up some planets.

Throughout the game, you'll engage in countless different space battles against Rebel forces, with the enormous super-weapon just looming in the background, almost like a "yep, you're screwed" reminder for your opponents.

And screwed they most certainly are, because just like in the movies, the Death Star is capable of blowing up any planet within a matter of seconds.

Though it can only fire once per battle, it's insanely fun to watch it work its destructive magic (especially for Star Wars fans), and it will make you feel as unstoppable as wrinkly ol' Palpatine must've felt at the height of the Empire's galactic dominance.
