3. Bayonetta (2009)

A game as over the top as Bayonetta would never have been content to have you fight boring old fodder enemies the whole way through. And not only does the gun-toting witch blast her way through angels, demons and everything in-between, the game's finale gives you the challenge to end all challenges in the creator of the universe itself, Jubileus.

After the First Armageddon, in which all time and space came to be, Jubileus was forcibly made the ruler of Paradiso and locked into an eternal slumber. She stays that way right up until Father Balder uses the Left and Right Eyes of the World to awaken her, intent on uniting the Trinity of Realities and ruling over them.

Although Balder succeeds in rousing the ancient goddess, Bayonetta isn't about to let her start messing everything up, and with the help of her ally Jeanne and the demon Queen Sheba, manages to knock Jubileus' spirit from her body and straight into the sun.

There's probably no way to kill a god that isn't insanely cool, but this one is still right up there.
