8. Dark Souls - Opening A Chest
Opening chests are a gaming staple. Link in Zelda will have his famous tune play when retrieving some treasure, Kratos from God of War will rip it apart, and Ninja Gaiden has Ryu expertly kick a chest open with satisfying skill.
In the haunting world of Dark Souls, you cherish any help you can, and the sight of a chest is like a warm hug as you'll undoubtedly find something helpful inside. For the majority of the game, you'll find armor sets, weapons, or rare materials inside chests scattered far across the land of Lordran and beyond.
Then they game hits you out of nowhere when one of these chests sprouts arms, grabs you then chomps down on your unsuspecting body. The attack is almost certainly fatal, sending you back to your last bonfire without your souls.
Even if you spot it, the mimic with sprout huge legs, arms, and a tongue to become a fairly hard battle to take down when first encountered.
