10 Video Games That Made Their Creators Leave The Industry

8. Diablo III

Mass Effect Andromeda
Blizzard

The release of Diablo III was mired in enormous controversy due to both its always-online DRM and the inclusion of a gameplay-derailing auction house in which players could spend real money on in-game items.

It didn't help matters at all that the game's director, Jay Wilson, responded to criticisms from Diablo's own creator himself, David Brevik, by declaring, "F**k that loser." Amid huge fan outcry, he later apologised.

But Wilson's relationship with the fanbase was permanently tarnished, and a few years after the game's release in 2016, he decided to quit both Blizzard and the gaming industry as a whole, to focus instead on a career in writing.

And you can probably guess how fans responded in unison to news of his departure from the business.
