10 Video Games That Made You PAY EXTRA For The Ending

7. Prince Of Persia

Kingdom hearts 3
Ubisoft

The 2008 reboot of the Prince of Persia franchise had a very interesting story that, at the time, was a little lost in the debate over whether or not it was too easy thanks to sidekick Elika's ability to save the Prince if he died. The story was that Elika had died and her father sacrificed himself to the demon Ahriman to revive her - but in the process Ahriman spread darkness over the realm and corrupted the world.

The Prince and Elika work together to undo the damage her father did and wind up fighting against Ahriman after finishing off her corrupted father. But in a melancholy twist it is discovered that the only way to seal Ahriman away again is for Elika to sacrifice herself - which she does.

The Prince, unable to cope with Elika's death, makes a deal to revive Elika once more in exchange for freeing Ahriman. Game ends with the Prince carrying the newly revived Elika away from the temple where Ahriman is spreading darkness over the world, again.

Cut to the Epilogue DLC where the Prince and Elika argue a bunch in an underground palace, defeat Elika's father again, and part ways. Not only did it cost money and add very little to the story, it actually took away from a solid, albeit bittersweet, ending.
