8. A Pointless Exercise - We Love Katamari

Detroit Become Human Chloe
Bandai Namco Entertainment

After beating PS2 cult classic We Love Katamari, players are confronted with a bonus challenge - to collect a stonking 1 million roses, with the implication being that they'll unlock something insanely neat in recompense.

Well, players who actually slogged their way to 1 million roses - which takes literally days, by the way - were left infuriated to find their diligent work rewarded with a semi-sarcastic congratulations from the King, who then labels the entire excursion a "pointless exercise."

As for what you actually get out of it? Nothing more than some roses added to the game's interface.

Thankfully it didn't take long for players to realise they could automate the process by tying a rubber band around their controller, but even then, was it really worth it when the game was showing such active contempt for the player's time?
