10 Video Games That Mock You For Paying Attention
7. The Ludonarrative Dissonance Trophy - Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
Uncharted 4 features a rather bizarre trophy that you'd only understand if you had an intimate knowledge of the critical reception to the previous games in the series.
If you manage to kill 1,000 enemies during your playthrough, you'll receive the "Ludonarrative Dissonance" trophy. To the layperson this may seem like mere word soup, but it's a critical term used to describe a philosophical clash between a game's story and gameplay.
Uncharted has been routinely criticised for its supposed ludonarrative dissonance, whereby Nathan Drake is presented as a charming, Indiana Jones-esque protagonist, while gameplay dictates that he must mercilessly slaughter hundreds of people.
Though the team at Naughty Dog have routinely rejected this criticism, they did nevertheless include the trophy in Uncharted 4 as a cute acknowledgement, gently ribbing those who buy into the theory.
