Zombies were everywhere in gaming in the noughties, and two of their most reliable homes were the Left 4 Dead and Dead Rising series.

Although both featured zombies, they had very different styles and vibes. Dead Rising gave you a sandbox to play with, letting you see what kind of weapons combinations you could create while your playable character Frank West mowed through slow moving zombies and took photos of himself in action.

The Left 4 Dead series, on the other hand, was a sometimes terrifying team-based exercise in survival against fast-moving undead who came in different forms and seldom let you rest to catch your breath.

Valve saw an opportunity to highlight the differences between their terrifying zombies and the slower paced ones in Dead Rising. At one point in L4D2, you come across a safe house, and in that room you can find a note on a white board from Frank West. In his note, Frank alludes to being out of film, has no hopes for a helicopter rescue, and admits he's not equipped to deal with this franchise's zombies.

We never actually see his body, but it's pretty clear Frank couldn't cut it in this franchise.
