10 Video Games That MUST Return On PS5 & Xbox SX

2. Twisted Metal

Widely hailed as the king of vehicular combat games, Twisted Metal has had many ups and downs over the course of its twenty-five-year history and abundance of reinventions.

Centred around a cast of cartoonish criminals who compete in life or death car battles to win unknowingly perverse prizes, the titles almost always shined when it came to dark humor, killer soundtracks, and engrossing violence.

For the most part, 2012’s Twisted Metal was a markedly audacious and appreciated reimagining that upheld the bleak and mature tone of 2001’s Twisted Metal: Black but with significantly different gameplay and narrative styles. Even so, the series has been dormant ever since, with only passable but unequal alternatives (like the family-friendly Destruction AllStars) filling the void.

Thankfully, a Twisted Metal TV show was just announced – joining an ever-growing list of PlayStation adaptations that also includes The Last of Us and Uncharted – so there’s still substantial interest in the brand. Plus, a video game tie-in would make a lot of sense, and it could even incorporate a battle royale mode alongside a mixture of new and classic metal music.

As long as Sweet Tooth and Calypso return, I’d sign up in a second.
