10 Video Games That Never Bettered Their Opening Levels

5. Hitman (2016)

This one is a bit different because 2016's Hitman level selection has been exemplary across the board. However, the Paris level just takes it, simply because it's the first time you'll play a level as intricately mapped and expertly programmed as what IO Interactive are offering.

That, and the Paris fashion show has within it some of the most off-kilter and enjoyable assassinations of them all. You'll stride a catwalk as the star of the show thanks to 47 being the spitting image of a high-profile celeb, drop canisters of flammable gas down chimneys, escape on helicopters and even - if you get the timing just right - drop one target onto the other from a huge height, completing the mission in full-on slapstick-violent fashion.

It all goes back to first impressions though, and from the perfectly-sized mansion, the layout that comprises a healthy outdoors section and multi-floor interior and the variety of NPCs on offer (playing the sheik is fantastic), Paris stands just a hair above the rest of the game as the perfect introduction to a 'world of assassination'.
