10 Video Games That Only Got Started At The End
1. The Singularity Cannon - Unreal II: The Awakening
The Unreal series arguably began its fast slide into irrelevance with the 2003 release of Unreal II: The Awakening, an insane forgettable campaign-centric follow-up to the original Unreal that attempted to stretch out a series of repetitive arena-based shootouts into a story mode lasting around 8 hours.
Things only get interesting in literally the final 15 minutes of the game, then, when the player receives the Singularity Cannon, a superweapon which they must first "liberate" from the arm of an alien Tosc.
The Singularity Cannon possesses the awesome ability to create black holes and pull anything nearby into it, which the player uses to defeat the rest of the game's enemies including its final boss.
It's really the only memorable moment in an otherwise bland, bloated FPS campaign, but certainly showed promise that a far more enjoyable experience was possible.
