10 Video Games That Only Work ONCE

6. Second Sight

Death stranding directors cut

Back in 2004, psychic games were at the centre of a hot debate: Second Sight or Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy. The former a brilliant tale with an unexpected ending, the latter a more "military-cover shooter" with psychic powers.

Second Sight puts you in the amnesiac shoes of John Vattic, a man once part of a research team that ends up granted psychic powers. Something's not right, things have gone wrong, and we don't know why.

For the most part, players will be trying to unravel what's happened to Vattic, why the mission was a failure, and why people keep dying around him. The big twist, however, is that it isn't what has happened, it's what will happen.

The "present" we play is actually a premonition, a potential future of what could be. So instead of playing the past, it's the present. With us here?

However, once you know that... it loses all impact playing again. It just becomes another thinking man's shooter, with some nifty psychic powers unlocked at key points. At this point, might as well give Psi-Ops a go.
