10 Video Games That Pissed You Off THE RIGHT WAY
7. Devil May Cry 5
Devil May Cry 5 is a wonderful example of the hack-and-slash formula done right. The frantic gameplay is matched by the downright insane story and incredible presentation, but the ever-present emphasis on high-score combat is always at the centre of the experience.
For plenty of casual fans, the bright colours and glitzy gameplay will be enough to justify the price of admission, but seasoned devil hunters will constantly be aware of the Style Gauge mocking them in the upper right hand corner. Ranging from D to SSS, the better you manage to master the gameplay the higher the score will be, which makes increasing the final score all the more frustrating.
That ever-elusive S rank always seems to be so close that it seems achievable but so far away that it can never actually be achieved. You'll be tearing your hair out at the sight of yet another A rank at the end of a mission you've replayed over and over, but the angelic gameplay is more than enough to combat the demonic difficulty of achieving the next rank.
If anything, the frustration of failing is yet another reason to not put the game down.
