10 Video Games That Punish You For Being Unlucky
7. The Technodrome Is Hidden In One Of Three Tunnels - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
The original side-scrolling Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game is well-known for its brutal level of difficulty, and while the hatred for the game's infamous Dam level is well-documented, Shredder's Base later on isn't much better.
Area 5 tasks players with seeking out the tank-like fortress known as the Technodrome, which is housed somewhere within Shredder's maze-like underground base.
The Technodrome is in one of the base's three passages, but this is entirely randomised, and there's absolutely no way to tell whether you'll find it first time, second, or third.
As such it's a total crap shoot whether you end up battling the Technodrome fresh, or have to take it on after exploring two other caves.
What's more, one of the caves is filled with considerably tougher enemies than the others, as will make the subsequent boss fight even more of a challenge.
The Technodrome itself is arguably the hardest boss in the entire game, and for unlucky players who slogged through three tunnels in pursuit of it, it does rather feel like the game is showing active contempt for their mere desire to be entertained.
