Classic graphic adventure game King's Quest V offers up one hell of a luck-based troll for players who make it to villain Mordack's creepy castle lair.

From this point on, it's possible for Mordack to basically randomly materalise in front of the player and promptly Force-choke them to death, resulting in a Game Over.

There's absolutely nothing that can be done to fight back against Mordack, and to the unassuming player it appears that there isn't even the faintest trigger for his arrival.

While the player can in fact do things to make Mordack's appearance more likely - such as staying in a single room for too long - it's largely an RNG-style event and one which the player is totally helpless to evade once the evil wizard has made his presence felt.

The only way to offset this, really, is to save and save often.
