10 Video Games That Punished You For Saving

9. The Legend Of Zelda: Majora's Mask

Alien Isolation
Nintendo

In The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Link is tasked with saving Termina, which is destined to be destroyed by the moon within three days. Any time the moon is about to collide into the world, Link can play his Ocarina to reverse time, giving him an extra 72 hours to complete his mission. Because Link can perform this action indefinitely, he literally has all the time in the world.

Although Majora's Mask didn't match the success of its predecessor, it's now regarded as one of the most underrated titles in the series. But no matter how much you adore this entry, Majora's Mask suffers from a major problem: saving.

There are two methods to save: reverse time on the Ocarina or by speaking to the owl statues. But if you choose to save on an owl statue, you'll be forced to quit.

Um... why? Have you ever heard of a game that wouldn't let you save UNLESS you quit playing? Although you don't have to quit when you reverse time, you will lose all your items and money in the process. Whatever method you use to save, you get screwed over.
