10 Video Games That Reused Bosses (And Made Them BETTER)

9. Revolver Ocelot (Metal Gear Solid 3)

Halo reach
Konami

By the time you fight Revolver Ocelot for the first time in MGS3, you've already fought him once or twice in the first two games in the Solid series, maybe more if you include the torture scenes. You've also knocked him out in a cutscene, and possibly created a time paradox by seeing if you can shoot him while he's laying unconscious at your feet.

The first boss battle against Ocelot is certainly novel: there's a ravine between you two and you've got a few pieces of cover. Ocelot has cover as well, though, so you have to time your shots by popping out when he's reloading. But he cheats and has his soldiers shoot at you from uncovered angles and toss grenades to force you out of cover. Ultimately it grinds to annoying quickly.

But on the plane at the end of the game he shows up for one final battle – a fist fight and showdown-style shootout. The tone and the action is far more enjoyable and because it's a cutscene and not an actual boss battle, it kind of fits the MGS theme. However after the cutscene there's a brief shoot out, with multiple possible endings depending on which gun you choose, whether or not you pull the trigger, and if you're aiming at Ocelot or not. Just way more fun and interesting than the first fight with Big Boss' future right hand man.
