10 Video Games That Reused Bosses (And Made Them BETTER)

8. The Pursuer (Dark Souls 2)

Halo reach
Namco Bandai Games

When you first fight The Pursuer - a heavily armoured knight with a greatsword and large round shield who moves incredibly fast for his size - it’s as the second boss of the Forest of Fallen Giants. You can also fight him by climbing a platform near the Cardinal Tower there instead, and miss out on his arrival cutscene.

However, as his name suggests, he doesn’t give up that easily. He will also show up later, with an increased moveset - especially in the remastered Scholar of the First Sin release where you can fight him a total of about 5 times. Not to mention in the New Game plus mode of the game you can fight two at once.

He’s a tough but basic enemy when you first see him, but when you meet him again later he’s a bit stronger, a bit faster, and has a few new moves to throw at you. It shows that, after his first defeat, he wasn’t just sitting back waiting for you to meet him - he’s been training. He’s always ready for you. Just so long as you don’t strafe to the right where he has a blindspot to his attacks.
