10 Video Games That REWARDED You For Being An Idiot

5. Ignoring A Dying Man - Cave Story

When you see Professor Booster after fighting Monster X, you have two choices; go to his aid like a good hero, or abandon him like... well, like maybe less than a good hero.

But, in order to get the good ending, you legitimately have to just... leave him to it. Unfortunate man at great peril and about to die any moment? He'll be fine, your help would only be getting in the way, apparently.

Or, rather, literally, because for some reason helping him leads to his death, whereas not helping him means he manages to get himself, to safety, against all logic.

Hilariously, this gives you a better reward than trying to help him does. Running to Booster's rescue nets you a half-finished jetpack that lets you jump higher and glide your way to areas you'd otherwise often be unable to reach. Leaving him, however, means he'll later give you the fully finished version, which improves your flying capabilities.

It also unlocks the secret end level of the game, and the "proper" final boss, meaning that if you want to experience this, you have to let an old man crawl his way to safety without any of your help.
