10 Video Games That Should Be Ashamed Of Themselves

BMX XXX Shame

Imagine what it must have been like to be in the pitch meeting for BMX XXX?

After the huge success of the Tony Hawk series sent skateboarding's coolness into overdrive, game developers scrabbled for a way to do the same with BMXing. Dave Mirra's Freestyle BMX tried its hand with the same formula as Tony Hawk, but the developers at BMX XXX didn't think that was quite edgy enough to stand out from the pack.

Although never confirmed, the actual development of BMX XXX is believed to have happened because a BMX game was already in development that looked a bit crap, and then publisher Activision decided to make it raunchy and promise everyone boobs to boost sales. Yes, that actually happened - a game was created entirely around 'XXX' content to encourage horny teenage boys to play it.

The game itself includes the ability to create fully topless female characters and also includes live action videos of strippers as rewards. Yes, honestly, this was really a thing that happened.

Dave Mirra, who was originally attached to the game, actually went to court to remove his association from the title when he found out about the shameful way the developers were changing the game to boost its sales.

Amazingly the game was censored on the PS2, but Nintendo, famous for its good guy image, allowed naked breasts to be shown on the Gamecube too.
