10 Video Games That Should Be Ashamed Of Themselves
5. Hotel Mario & The Zelda CD-I Games
When you think of Mario games, you generally think of high quality titles that push the envelope about what a game can actually be.
In the case of Hotel Mario, it very much doesn't do that.
That's mainly because Nintendo wasn't the developer here. Instead, they handed off development to Philips Interactive Media to create an interactive adventure based on the Mario property.
What resulted is truly awful. The 'game' consists of terribly-animated cutscenes combined together with some kind of bizarre game involving shutting doors.
Somehow, Philips were also allowed to then create three Legend of Zelda titles too, which are equally as notorious for their terrible quality. The best thing to come out of those is the 'Well Excuse Me Princess!' meme.
We honestly don't know if it was limitations of the CDI itself or sheer incompetence that created these monstrosities, but regardless, any game developer would be ashamed of pumping something out that's this completely awful.
