Now we have one for all of the horror fans out there. In 2008 we were blessed with a new breed of science fiction survival horror, Dead Space. Taking a steer from the unlikely hero in Half-Life, Dead Space has the protagonist Isaac Clarke, an engineer aboard an interstellar mining ship. The story of the game revolves around Isaac who must find a way of repairing the ship after it gets damaged when the crew explores an abandoned ship. When aboard the ship the majority of the crew is killed by aliens aboard the abandoned ship, it is a fight for survival as they then reanimate the human corpses into violent Necromorphs. There are many notable influences for Dead Space, from the USG Ishimura mimicking the claustrophobic USCSS Nostromo in Alien, elements of H.P. Lovecraft as well as the horror of Event Horizon. Dead Space would make a chilling sci-fi horror film, guaranteed to make audiences jump around the world.
