10 Video Games That Surprisingly No-Showed E3 2021
6. Fable
The long-rumoured Fable reboot was finally confirmed by Microsoft last July with a glossy cinematic trailer, and accepting that rumours about Playground Games developing the game go back as far as January 2018, it was fair to assume they might've had something to show by E3 of this year.
But the Microsoft-Bethesda show came and went with Fable nowhere to be seen, arguably implying the game is in a far more primordial state than expected, perhaps further evidenced by last year's reveal being a mere CGI trailer.
Insider chitchat seems to suggest Fable is going much the same path as Hellblade II and eyeing a 2023 drop, with Microsoft simply eager to get the word out that a new Fable was in development, given how desperately the Xbox One struggled with exclusive IP.
Also, with Playground Games dropping the reveal trailer for Forza Horizon 5 during the Microsoft show ahead of its release later this year, it may have been a simple case of not wanting to over-saturate the audience with two games from the same developer.
