10 Video Games That Totally Ruined Gaming For Everyone

7. Halo 2

The early Halos were just fantastic - from the innovative regenerating health/shield mechanic that every game under the sun would justifiably steal for itself over the coming decade, to the idea of only being able to carry two guns at once - even the quick-access melee and grenade attacks made every developer under the sun question why they'd always forced gamers to switch to fists or explosives beforehand. Story-wise the ending of this one royally annoyed everyone who thought they were going to detonate the gigantic explosive Master Chief was riding on, however it wrapped with a cliffhanger, forcing players to flock to the online modes to get their money's worth - and thereby changing game history in the process. Not only had the first Halo proved shooters could work on consoles, but now they were online, fully-functioning matches chock-full of various weapons, vehicles and perfectly crafted levels to boot. Halo 2 was single-handedly responsible for Xbox Live taking off as much as it did - and to this day that's the exact reason 343 Industries chose to remaster it with so much care as they did in last year's Master Chief Collection.
