10 Video Games That Were Killed By Executive Meddling

1. Prey

Brutal Legend
Bethesda

Prey was a pretty decent game. Functionally, it was outstanding and it had a decent story to boot. So, what made it disappear under the rug?

Unfortunately, Bethesda had a hand in that.

Refusing to give out review copies and restricting critical feedback on the game until a day before launch caused Prey to just... disappear. The controversy around the review copy embargo was enough to burden its reputation, and the lack of day one reviews scared off most cautious buyers.

That, and the fact that it was burdened with the title purely for a marketing perspective. Playing through the game, you can't help but think that this was an Arkane title that got slapped with the title 'Prey', simply because of Bethesda not knowing what to do with the property. It has nothing to do with the original or even the sequel's trailer, causing fans to just be confused.

All this resulted in a game that still reviewed well... there was just no one around to listen.
