10 Video Games That Were Ruined By Their Own Fanbases

6. Super Smash Bros.

*ducks thrown object*

Yes, Super Smash Bros.

Not only is the game impossible to criticise without inciting the vengeance of a million-plus Nintendo fanboys, but Super Smash Bros. is also ridiculously unaccessible for new players. This is partly the games€™ fault, seeing as how the tutorial systems have never been particularly involved, but when you€™re playing against individuals who spend their free time counting frames to improve their game, well, you never really had much of a chance to begin with.

Besides the almost obsessive-compulsive quality of players, Super Smash Bros. itself has essentially just become a vehicle for Nintendo, a means for them to sell toys to their gullible fanbase. Which would be the company€™s fault, if the fans themselves didn€™t just soak up everything Nintendo related, greedily lapping up anything with Mario€™s or Link€™s face on it.

In this instance, the Super Smash Bros. fanbase is guilty of over-enthusiasm, as well as spending $2,500 on a one-handed Luigi Amiibo. Yes, that really happened.
