10 Video Games That Were Secretly Judging You The Whole Time

9. Companions' Reactions - Dragon Age: Origins

Prey game
BioWare

The cast of Dragon Age: Origins is full of wonderful companions with unique personalities, quirks, and preferences. The game features an affection system that shows you how much each member of your crew likes or hates you, but what it doesn't tell you is that some of your actions can also have a secret impact on their personalities.

Two of your companions, Allistair and Leliana, can be "hardened" by certain interactions you have with them throughout the story. What this means is that your words can cause a change of heart and turn them from soft, indecisive, and relatively naive individuals into more confident and reliable ones.

The game never mentions this to you, even though the difference between a hardened and a soft character can have a pretty major impact on the story. For example, a soft Allistair will heavily oppose the idea of a diplomatic marriage with the Queen, while a hardened one will begrudgingly accept it for the good of the world.

So next time you're out there fighting Darkspawn with your pals, be careful what you say to them. You never know what might cause them to rethink their entire existence.
