10 Video Games That Were Too Damn Long

4. Batman Arkham Knight

Final Fantasy XV Facepalm
Rocksteady

It's hard to be the final entry in a trilogy: just look at the third Godfather, or worse, the third Mass Effect. Unfortunately Batman is no exception to this seeming curse. Rocksteady did an excellent job of building on their groundbreaking game play for the most part and introduced a story that, while a bit predictable to anyone who has glanced at a Batman comic, was still filled with plenty of great moments.

So what went wrong? I'm sure we all know by now.

The Batmobile.

It's truly a sad day when the Batmobile itself stops being cool and instead becomes something you dread to see every time you turn on the console (or PC, but the less said about that version the better). The game dedicates far too much time to this otherwise minor annoyance and causes sheer dread at just the thought of completing another Riddler Race. If Rocksteady had instead cut out even half of these shoehorned sequences where the Bat has to solve some outlandish puzzle while simultaneously exploding "AI controlled" tanks, then the whole thing would flow much better.

It's even worse when the game forces you to spend another 5+ hours hunting down all 315 Riddler collectibles just to see the actual ending. No thank you Rocksteady, maybe some of us just aren't cut out to be Batman after all.
