10 Video Games That Were Utter Embarrassments For Their Franchises
3. Tony Hawks Pro Skater 5
The franchise that made extreme sports a genre in gaming was the Pro Skater series. The games were by no means realistic, just taking the idea of grinding a rail through a ring of fire and doing all sorts of insane tricks seemed like such fun and it was. That fun was sucked out of the soulless release that was the fifth mainline game in the series.
Tony Hawks Pro Skater 5 was a pathetic attempt at a game and came out a busted unpolished nightmare. The game had a patch on launch that contained a large part of the game, so if you didn’t play online at the time and you bought a disc copy, you’d only have the first boring area to mess around in.
Following that up, if you did actually manage to see the rest of the game, you’d be very disappointed with the lack of content. Plus, what was available was objects that were placed with precisely zero thought. Rails and ramps were just thrown about making it difficult to keep combos going.
However, out of the fire came a remaster of Pro Skater 1 and 2 with plenty of new content to boot. A much better overall use of your money than getting 5, to the point where even Tony himself isn't a fan.
Take up real skating, it is much better than this.
