10 Video Games That Weren't As Good As You Remember

7. Pong

Credit where credit is due, Pong was effectively the great-grandparent of all video games. The paddle and ball take on tennis was the game that pretty much helped to spawn the whole video game industry. Which is all well and good and we all tip our collective hats to you Mr. Pong, as a sign of our respect. But Pong was wrong.

Whilst it had a simplistic, almost zen-like, minimalism kind of quality to it, Pong would very likely, if played for too long, drive you utterly insane. After 5 rounds, the incessant beeps and boops would begin to bore into your brain like jackhammers. Then there's the never ending Brock Lesnar inspired repetitive gameplay - move paddle, hit ball, score point, repeat. Move paddle, hit ball, score point, repeat. MOVE PADDLE, HIT BALL, SCORE POINT, REPEAT.

Although yes, we should unquestionably hate Pong today, the game, like all our elders, did teach us a rather valuable lesson. Which is your life will just be an endless repetition of beeps and boops, until you score points that will never mean anything. Sorry about that.
