10 Video Games That Will Disappoint You In 2019
9. Doom: Eternal
Bethesda may be in the dog-house right now, but, between Rage 2, Wolfenstein, and Doom: Eternal, it has several chances to get back in our good books next year. Sadly, Doom: Eternal will likely not be that saving grace however.
ID struck gold with the previous Doom, but now it faces the tough challenge of toeing the line between changing too much and not enough. Based on what we've seen, Eternal looks just like its predecessor, which is both good and bad. The carnage and fun gameplay of the original will not be enough to fuel an entire sequel. Meaning it is likely to be criticised by reviewers and gamers alike, for being too samey.
No release date has been announced as of yet, but we can safely assume it will come after Rage 2. If the latter isn't a big success, there will be a whole lot riding on Doom: Eternal's success. It might sound ludicrous right now but, with recent commercial misfires like Dishonored 2, Prey, and Fallout 76, and with Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI so far away, Bethesda could be looking at a long, painful road to the depths of hell.
