Insomniac Games may be better known for Spyro, Ratchet & Clank and Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018) but two of their lesser known works have been in Virtual Reality. After Edge of Nowhere's success in 2016, Insomniac then moved onto Stormland, an open-world adventure game.

Released last year, you play as Vesper, a robot survivor of a war which saw his friends destroyed by an organisation called Tempest. Awakening several centuries after its conclusion, he doesn't know the outcome or what happened to his companions and can only find references to “The Storm”.

Featuring 2 player co-op, well implemented exploration, enjoyable combat and a beautiful visual presentation, it also gives players something that a lot of VR games lack, freedom.

The stealth sections can let it down at times and those who suffer with motion sickness may have some issues but it’s a strong example of how to bring a Sci-Fi world to life in VR and Insomniac Games have done an excellent job.
