10 Video Games That Totally Nailed Their Final Levels
8. Super Mario Kart
Mario Kart as a series is full of iconic tracks - that's why nowadays, new releases are stuffed full of retro tracks, bringing a nostalgic flair to Nintendo's fantastic kart series. Only one track has been a mainstay throughout though. A version of Rainbow Road has featured in every Mario Kart game to date (some have appeared frequently, designated as retro tracks) and each one usually presents the biggest challenge in the game; the colourful track hides some deadly drops and falls. Everybody has their own personal favourite iteration of Rainbow Road but the original, found in Super Mario Kart, is a classic and should be revered as such. It introduces many of the regular features found in Rainbow Road tracks, like reduced numbers of barriers; sharp, angular turns and Thwomp blocks to force racers off the road. Super Mario Kart's Rainbow Road wins prizes for originality and setting up a legacy but it still proves to be the ultimate challenge in the SNES original too. With eight drivers on the track, it perfectly represents the frantic fun that Mario Kart has become renowned for; few other tracks can match the intensity of a Rainbow Road SNES showdown.
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
