10 Video Games With Utterly Ludicrous Premises You Won’t Believe They Released
9. MoonWalker
As if it wasn't unusual enough for the King of Pop to star in his own musical, completely crackers movie, the boffins behind games back in the day decided a videogame tie-in to the movie was very much necessary. Michael Jackson's Moonwalker stars our hero, Michael himself, grooving his way through poorly-designed levels to 16-bit versions of classic MJ songs such as Smooth Criminal. Whether it's throwing his hat at enemies to make them explode into sparkly bits, rescuing children for no discernible reason from cupboards or cameo appearances from Bubbles, MJ's pet monkey, Moonwalker remains one of the most unusual gaming experiences I've ever had to digest. Interestingly, Moonwalker was actually adapted both for the arcade and for home consoles such as the Genesis. It really is a bizarre concept to start with and was surely made to capitalise on the movie, but I can't help but feel there wasn't enough demand for either of those platforms. But no matter, it happened. Michael Jackson rescued children from the evil Mr Big using the power of dance and his magical sparkly fedora. Yep. Seriously.
